Přemysl Otakar II Square in Klatovy** stone, concrete, iron, wood

An cca 8,5-meter-high column is supported by three different stones. They differ not only in size and material but also in their history. The largest granite one comes from the monument to Antonín Zápotocký, the second communist president of Czechoslovakia, created by Jan Hána (who was, among other things, the last rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague before 1989), and it originally stood right here. After 1989, the bronze statue was removed, transported to the gallery at Klenová, and symbolically buried there. The pedestal then remained in the middle of this granite square for a long time.
